A young boy was born with the gift of being able to speak with nature.
He could talk to the trees…
The wind…
The earth.
One day…
Out of curiosity…
He began a conversation with the sun.
He asked the sun…
“What is your purpose?”
The sun replied…
“To shine my light on the world, and to keep your planet warm enough for you to live.”
The boy thought for a second, then replied, curiously…
“Why do you do it? Why do you choose to help us?”
The sun was quiet.
The sun didn’t understand the question.
The boy, sensing the sun was confused, expanded on his question…
“You see…you don’t have to help us. Why do you choose to shine your light and warmth onto us? What’s making you do it? What do you get out of it?”
The sun paused…
Considered the boy’s question…
And explained…
“My nature is to shine my light onto the world and warm your planet. This is not something I do in order to receive praise, recognition, or validation. This is my way of serving the universe. I don’t expect anything in return. I’m the sun, and therefore, I serve as I’m intended to serve.”
The boy smiled.
He understood.
He thanked the sun…
But the sun did not say “you’re welcome”.
The sun just continued to shine its light onto the boy’s face.

You see…
Each of us has a unique way of serving the world.
Each of us has a unique talent to positively impact our environment.
The best approach you can take…
Is one where you are not acting only in your self-interest.
You choose to give your gifts to the world…
Since that is your nature.
It is what you are here to do.
If a byproduct is recognition, praise, reward…
You will receive it.
But you will not make the recognition, praise, or reward the outcome that you attach to.
Instead…
You will be like the sun…
Offering your light and warmth to everyone and anyone…
Expecting nothing in return.
That’s true freedom.
That’s true peace.
That’s true love.
