Did you know the Leaning Tower of Pisa resulted from a human mistake?
The tower was built on subsoil…
And the architects made the mistake of giving the tower a shallow and heavy foundation.
It started to sink when they were building the second story.
Builders tried to offset the sinking on one side by adding taller columns and arches on the south side…
But it was too late.
The result?
850 years later…
Over 1 million people visit this tower yearly to marvel at the construction.
So while at the time…
The architects believed they made a huge mistake…
It turned out to be one of the most fascinating towers built in human history.
In my years of coaching professionals…
From entry-level up to CEO’s…
The most common and detrimental pattern I see…
Is when people beat themselves up over perceived mistakes.
The truth is…
A perceived mistake may uncover a great lesson…
Or lead to something even better than originally planned.
The truth is…
By making more mistakes…
You’re giving yourself more opportunities for growth and learning.
The truth is…
The more mistakes you make…
The more you’ll achieve.
So make mistakes.
Take risks.
And promise me…
More importantly, promise yourself…
That you’ll always be kind to yourself…
Even when you think you really messed up.
Rooting for you,
Jay (encouraging you to make more mistakes)
