You’re flawed…so what?

04/01/24

You check your phone…

You go on social media…

And you see images of people living seemingly perfect lives…

With what feels like an unattainable standard of success.

Even if you don’t say it…

Even if you act like it doesn’t affect you…

You start to compare.

They seem to have a perfect life…

And you don’t.

You put them on a pedestal…

And their apparent success…

Highlights all of your apparent failures.

The problem is not their post…

It’s not that they are curating an image of themselves that most likely is very far from the truth of their experience…

The problem is your perception.

The perception that leads to unhealthy comparison is fueled by self-absorption and a sense of lack.

So let’s shift your perception, shall we?

See through the “highlight reel” of these posts…

And see what value you can either gain or offer in what you’re viewing on social media.

See that the person in the image is flawed…

Imperfect…

And has insecurities, fears, and doubts…

Just…like…you!

You are unique…

Powerful…

Flawed…

And imperfect.

Accept all of you.

You don’t have to prove your worth.

You don’t have to measure up to anyone else’s idea of success.

You don’t have to compare yourself to others.

Apply this lesson to yourself…

AND to the people you see in those images on social media.

You are not perfect…

They are not perfect…

NOBODY is perfect.

You are valuable…

They are valuable…

EVERYBODY is valuable and perfectly imperfect.

You can avoid a whole lot of unnecessary suffering by accepting and embracing your imperfections…

And accepting and embracing the imperfections of others (even when they try to hide it).

Rooting for you,
Jay (inviting you to embrace your imperfections)
