Why Do Birds Fly?

10/21/24

In my office, my eyes wander from the laptop screen to the window.

A bird flies by.

The thought enters my awareness…

“What must the experience be like for the bird?”

The bird is soaring beautifully through the air since it is its nature to do so.

The bird isn’t trying to be something it’s not.

The bird doesn’t fly over water and wish it could swim like the fish.

Nor does the bird consider itself special for its miraculous ability to glide amongst the clouds.

The bird thinks not of what other birds think of it.

The bird isn’t preoccupied with how well it’s flying or its appearance relative to other birds.

The bird is simply doing what it was born to do.

Flying is the bird’s nature.

You were born with unique talents.

Within you are strengths, passions, and skills that serve a meaningful purpose.

Please do not try to force yourself into doing things that are not in your nature.

Nor should you consider yourself special for having these unique talents and get caught in self-absorption.

Detach from what others think of you.

Do what you were born to do.

Act according to your true nature.

Rooting for you,
Jay (encouraging you to be like the birds in the sky)
