Two people are walking in the park.
They stop at a bench and both gaze up at the sky.
One says…
“Look at how yellow the sky is.”
The other person…
With a confused look on their face, says…
“What? The sky looks red to me.”
An argument ensues.
Both frustrated…
They begin shouting at one another…
Until both people storm off.
An onlooker who oversees this entire fiasco thinks…
“I wish I had told them to remove their tinted sunglasses!”
At any instance of conflict between people…
There is either a lack of understanding…
A lack of awareness…
Or both.
In this case…
Both people didn’t have the awareness that they were wearing tinted sunglasses…
And they didn’t understand that the other was seeing a different color sky because of the sunglasses.
Whenever you’re getting frustrated with another person…
You’re likely falling into this trap.
Ask yourself…
What am I misunderstanding?
What do I need to be aware of?
Realize…
The other person sees things differently.
The best thing you can do…
Is to understand what it’s like to “look at life through their sunglasses”.
Ask questions to understand their perspective…
Before you attempt to have them understand yours.
So that way…
Before you begin shouting that the sky looks yellow…
You can realize…
“OH! They’re wearing tinted sunglasses! THAT’S why they see a red sky!!”
Rooting for you,
Jay (encouraging you to understand and be aware of other perspectives)
