Starting this week, I’m introducing a new format to our newsletter called S.O.S. to keep things simple, practical, and worth your time.
Each email will include three quick hits:
A Story, an Observation, and a Strategy…
Designed to help you lead with more resilience, clarity, and energy.
Short, useful, and easy to apply.
Let’s dive in!
STORY
Every morning, I hit the same traffic bottleneck on the way to my daughter’s school.
Ten minutes waiting in the right lane…
Or I cut someone off near the exit.
I thought those were my only two options.
Last week…
I paused and asked, “What if I just don’t take this exit?”
I kept going straight.
My GPS found another route.
No delay. No stress. No cutting people off.
It felt ridiculous that I hadn’t noticed this sooner.
But it taught me something valuable.
We often assume there’s only one way to do something.
So we repeat it…
Even when it no longer serves us.
But a simple pause…
A quick, “Is there another way?”…
Opens new options we didn’t know existed.
And for me, it means fewer angry drivers yelling at me at 8am!
OBSERVATION
88% of our actions are habitually executed rather than consciously chosen.
(University of Surrey-led study published in Psychology & Health, September 2025).
STRATEGY
This week, ask yourself…
Is this the only way?
Is there another way to do this?
What options are available to me that I haven’t yet considered?
Rooting for you,
Jay (encouraging you to pause and consider alternate paths)
