So…I Got Married

08/25/25

After 8 wonderful years with Alex, we made it official.

We had a small, intimate gathering of loved ones over the weekend to celebrate our marriage.

She and I have talked about getting married for years…

And the truth is…

We’ve made a commitment to one another years before this event.

But even still…

Getting to celebrate our love is something I will never forget.

I’ve felt like the luckiest man in the world for 8 years, and that continues to this day.

No one in the world gets me like Alex gets me.

As I was going into the weekend, I received such a beautiful message from my client, Bruce.

He said…

“I know you know this, but try to stay present throughout your celebration and soak in all the love around you! It will go by fast, and you will have those beautiful memories and feelings attached to them to bring back the rest of your life! I’m so happy for you, Jay!!!”.

I’m so grateful for this message from Bruce.

Because he’s right…

I DO know this…

But how often do we forget to savor these important moments in our lives?

How frequently does a day like this go by so quickly, and we forget to really take it all in?

Thanks to Bruce, I made a conscious effort throughout the celebration to be present and to savor the experience.

I looked in people’s eyes a bit longer than I usually would.

I smiled a bit harder than I usually smile.

I laughed a bit harder than I usually laugh.

Often, I just looked around and told myself…

“Soak it in, Jay. This is a day to remember.”

While this applies to special days like a wedding or the day your child is born, each of us can make this conscious effort any time we choose to.

If you’re intentional about it…

Or you have a great friend like Bruce in your life to remind you…

You’ll enjoy each experience that much more by reminding yourself to be present and fully engage in the moment.

And when those special moments arrive…

Savor them.

Those will be the memories you look back on later in life that fill your heart with joy.

Rooting for you,
Jay (encouraging you to soak it all in)
