This weekend, my fiance and I went to a haunted house to get into the Halloween season.
We walked through the dark hallways and people jumped out at us wearing creepy masks, scaring us over and over again.
We loved it; it was so much fun.
It was PACKED, by the way.
Hundreds of people were waiting in line to get into the haunted house.
It got me thinking…
Why do we ENJOY getting scared?
Why would we CHOOSE to put ourselves in a situation where people would try and scare the heck out of us?
I think it comes down to the thrill of the unexpected.
We enjoy the novelty of the experience.
You turn a corner and while you know something will pop out at you, you don’t know what, you don’t know when, you don’t know from where, and that’s exciting!
Couldn’t we adopt the same approach for our lives?
If we know what’s going to happen every…single…day…
It’s monotonous…
We’re stagnant…
We’re bored all the time…
Then we aren’t going to have great experiences in our lives.
If we turn every corner excited at what’s to come…
We’re looking forward to the challenges…
We have to keep adapting…
We’re never bored…
Then life is a thrilling experience.
So I encourage you to consider how to add more thrills into your life.
Infuse more novelty and more excitement into every area of your life.
And when you turn that next corner…
Rather than be afraid of what may pop up at you…
Be excited at the thrill of what you’re about to experience.
Rooting for you,
Jay (encouraging you to live a life of thrills)
