09/22/25
This Friday, I’ll be recording my TEDx talk in Billings, Montana, and I couldn’t be more excited.
I’ve dreamed of this for years, and finally, the moment is arriving.
I committed to 2025 being the year I record a TEDx, and so last year, I decided on my topic.
The talk is titled:
What You Gain By Losing Yourself
Without giving everything away, here’s a preview of what you’ll see in my TEDx talk:
I start with a story, shared in a poetic style (you can call it “spoken word”), about someone I recently met and the impact they had on me.
I then pull lessons from that story about how so often, we have dreams, we have goals, but we get in our own way.
What stops us from being resilient, happy, and performing at a high level, is our attachments.
I define attachments and include fascinating research that backs up the fact that attachments are what cause us to be dissatisfied.
I include additional poetry to point to the relationship between attachment and performance, concluding that attachments get in the way of both our happiness and our performance.
I point to the fact that happy moments and high-performing moments consist of a few things, including a surprising revelation that most people overlook.
I explain the key to happiness, resilience, and high performance.
Additionally, I provide 3 actionable steps that will help anyone to stay connected, resilient, and at peace.
The end of my talk includes a revisit to the poem I shared at the beginning, bringing it full circle to the core message of the talk.
Is that too vague? lol
If so, I hear you, I just need to be careful of how much I share before the recording, and I really hope you watch the talk when it gets published which will most likely be a few months from now.
In the meantime, thank you for your support.
So much of why I do what I do is because of the messages I get from you that inspire me.
I’m grateful to have connected with so many great people who have a similar mindset of wanting to perform at their very best, but also wanting to maintain connection with others, and to enjoy every step of the journey.
I’ll keep you posted on how the recording goes!
Rooting for you,
Jay (deeply appreciative of your support)
